Ryan Madden has been on our radar now for most of 2017. We previously had the privilege of being invited into a private full costume rehearsal. That experience was detailed here:

Theatre NDG presents Alison’s House

Now, we direct our attention to Ryan himself, as he prepares his next show, “Hunting Moon, a one-act comedy by Ryan Madden,” directed by Ryan Madden. Opening is Nov 23rd at 8pm at the Loyola Chapel, Concordia University, 7141 Sherbrooke St W, Montreal.  It should be fun and light and fast-paced.

Would you like to introduce yourself?:
My name is Ryan Madden, and I founded Theatre NDG, Fall 2016.  Theatre NDG is a community theatre project based in NDG.  I founded it as a way to tell stories and get involved in making art.

Upcoming Projects:
Hunting Moon is a one-act comedy that I wrote and am directing.  It runs Nov 23- Dec 2 at the Loyola Chapel.  The best place to follow us is on Facebook I think.  But we have a webpage as well, theatrendg.com.

Creative rituals:
I just treat everything like work.  Some days I’m productive other days I’m lazy.  I try to have time blocks dedicated to personal projects I’m working on.  But I’m not an expert at it yet.  Things get muddled together and I don’t always get everything done when I want to.  So I try to be forgiving with myself.  I try to keep things in perspective.

What is your favourite word:
I use to like the word ever a lot.

What is your least favourite word:
I like to be hopeful.  I don’t like negativity much – so anything negative.  I also like to be undefined.

What is your idea of earthly happiness:
Being in the moment.  Getting everything I need to do done so that I can walk down the street open to distraction.  Anytime I can really just be where I am and really enjoy it for what it is.

What is in your music rotation right now?
I don’t listen to a lot of music but I’m learning to play the piano.

What is your favourite colour?
I don’t think I have one.  When I was a kid it was blue but I’m not sure why.

What are your favourite names?
Sky and Rain are nice names.

10 years:
Gosh I don’t really think about those types of things, but hopefully I’m happy, and hopefully I’ve had a lot of fun between now and then.

When you think of NDG, what comes to mind?:
The trees.
